Fresh. Made Easy! More Iowans will have increased access to farm-fresh food at selected farmers markets this season due to a partnership between the Iowa Department of Human Services and Iowa Farm Bureau.
This partnership has provided free wireless point-of-sale equipment to qualified vendors across the state. This enables the vendors to accept the EBT food assistance card, MasterCard or Visa.
The result of this program is that everyone benefits! Iowans are now be able to use their EBT, MasterCard and Visa to purchase food at the markets — providing easy access to the freshest food Iowa has to offer. And the program helps vendors as well by providing access to a client base that was previously unable to purchase their goods with the cards.
