About the Accreditation Bureau

The Bureau of Accreditation is responsible for reviewing providers of mental health and disability services for accreditation on a rotating schedule.  Those responsibilities include:

  • Providing training and technical assistance to community based providers to support them in preparing for service accreditation review.
  • Developing and implementing accreditation and qualification standards for community based service providers in conjunction with the MHMRDDBI Commission.
  • Conducting provider reviews required as part of the facility/provider accreditation process as defined in Iowa Administrative Code Part 441, Chapter 24.

These include services provided by:

  •  Community Mental Health Centers
  •  Case Management Providers
  •  Supported Community Living Providers
  •  Mental Health Service Providers

The services that are accredited are:

  • Case Management
  • Supported Community Living Services
  • Intensive Outpatient/Day Treatment
  • Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services
  • Outpatient Psychotherapy/Counseling Services
  • Partial Hospitalization Services
  • Emergency Services
  • Evaluation Services
